Privacy & Cookies Policy
Last updated June 2026 · Template — review with legal counsel before public launch.
Liaison is an adult social and dating community for consenting adults aged 18 or over. Protecting your privacy matters to us, especially because the things you share here can be sensitive. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices and rights you have. Please only use Liaison if you're comfortable with it.
Who we are
Liaison is the data controller for the personal information processed through this service. (Our operating company name and registered number will be confirmed here before public launch.) For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@liaisonclub.com or via the in-app contact/support tools.
We operate under UK data protection law — the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 — and, for users in the EEA, the EU GDPR.
The golden rule
Never post, send or show anything — photos, videos, webcam, messages, or profile details, including content marked "private" — that you would be upset about if it were misused or made public, whether maliciously by another user or by accident. Content shared online can be copied or recorded beyond our control. By using Liaison you agree to follow this rule.
What we collect
Information you give us: profile details (such as gender, date of birth, the first part of your postcode or your town, sexuality, physical details, lifestyle details and your partner/meeting preferences), your username and password, and the photos, videos, posts and messages you choose to share.
Some of this is "special category" data — in particular details that reveal your sex life or sexual orientation. We only process special category data with your explicit consent, which you give by choosing to display it on your profile or share it through the service, and which you can withdraw at any time by editing or deleting your account.
Location information: if you choose to share your location (via your device or by entering a postcode/area), we store only an approximate, jittered point — never your exact coordinates — to power "near you" features. You can turn this off or change it at any time.
Technical information collected automatically: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, and activity such as pages viewed and searches, with date/time stamps, used to run and secure the service.
Payment details go directly to our payment partners. We never receive or store full card numbers.
Why we use it, and our lawful bases
To provide the service under our contract with you; with your explicit consent for special category data; on the basis of our legitimate interests (and recognised legitimate interests, as introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) for running, improving and securing the service and preventing fraud or abuse; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies needed to make the site work and keep your session secure (for example sign-in and load-balancing cookies). We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking cookies. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site working.
Who we share it with
Other users see what you put in your public profile or otherwise post or send. Processors who help us run the service (such as hosting and payment providers) handle data on our instructions. We disclose data to the police, regulators or other authorities where required by law or to protect users, and to professional advisers or a buyer in connection with a sale or merger. We do not transfer your data outside the UK/EEA except to processors covered by appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and photos are removed and your account is anonymised; content you posted or sent (such as comments and messages) may remain but will be shown as from a "Deleted user". We retain limited data only where the law requires.
Your rights
Subject to the legal conditions, you can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, request portability, and withdraw any consent you've given. You can edit or remove your information at any time from your account, including by deleting your account.
Complaints
We operate a data-protection complaints process. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us first and we'll investigate and respond within a clear timescale. If you remain dissatisfied you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or your local supervisory authority in the EEA.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy by posting a new version here with a revised date; continued use means you accept it. Questions or requests: email hello@liaisonclub.com or use the in-app contact/support tools.
